“Doing Catholic theological ethics in a cross-cultural and interfaith Asian context”
The Asian regional committee of CTEWC would like to invite participants of the First Asian Cross-cultural Conference for Catholic Theological Ethicists to submit paper proposals for presentation.
Presenters can write on topics in relation to any of the different fields in theological ethics (e.g., fundamental morals, sexuality, social ethics, and medical/bioethics). However, it is strongly encouraged that the proposal reflects the cross-cultural or interfaith Asian context explicitly or implicitly.
A total of 45 papers will be selected for presentation during the three concurrent sessions.
Suggested specific topics (only recommendations, not exhaustive) include:
- development and Solidarity
- social heroes/moral exemplars
- democratic movements
- ethics in public life
- family and marriage
- reproductive health and sexuality
- gender and the role of women
- ecology, environment, and sustainability
- biotechnological revolution in Asia
- comparative ethics
- doing ethics in a multi-religious society
- the role of religion, context, and language
- moral formation and education
Eligibility for submission:
The confirmed participants of the First Asian Cross-cultural Conference for Catholic Theological Ethicists.
Information to be included in your proposal:
Your paper proposal should not be more than 250 words.
You should also include a title that will be posted on our conference website should your paper be accepted.
Please provide your name and institution as well.
If you are coming to Bangalore with some subsidy from your teaching institution, please indicate if you are expected to present at the conference in order to secure a subsidy.

You will be notified by email whether your paper has been accepted on or before December 25, 2014.
Each presenter will be assigned to one of the fifteen panels during the three concurrent sessions. Each presenter will speak for 15mins.
The Plenary papers and selected essays from the concurrent sessions will be compiled and published into a manuscript.
